Elderly Care- Recreational Centre

Edumedha has recently initiated the Recreational Centre for Elderly People in association  with Care 27 x 7 Foundation, a compassionate effort to support the emotional, social, and mental well-being of senior citizens. In old age, individuals often experience loneliness, isolation, and a lack of meaningful engagement. Recognizing this need, Edumedha has developed a safe, welcoming, and activity-based space where elderly people can spend quality time, interact with peers, and participate in enriching activities.

The centre aims to offer a structured environment that promotes social connection, mental stimulation, and physical wellness. Through a variety of recreational and learning activities—such as indoor games, yoga, storytelling circles, health awareness sessions, music, art, and hobby-based workshops—the centre encourages active ageing and fosters a sense of belonging among the elderly.

Project Objectives

The Recreational Centre has been designed with a clear purpose to enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals. Its core objectives include:

  • Promoting Social Engagement: To reduce loneliness and isolation by offering a supportive space where elderly people can interact, form friendships, and participate in group activities.

  • Encouraging Active Ageing: To help seniors stay mentally alert and physically active through structured programs that enhance their overall well-being.

  • Enhancing Emotional Well-being: To provide opportunities for self-expression, relaxation, and stress relief through music, storytelling, and therapeutic activities.

  • Improving Physical Health: To support healthy ageing through yoga, fitness routines, and awareness sessions focused on preventive healthcare.

  • Fostering a Sense of Purpose: To involve seniors in creative, cultural, and intellectual activities that give them a renewed sense of meaning and involvement.

  • Creating a Safe & Inclusive Space: To build an environment where elderly individuals feel respected, valued, and encouraged to participate freely.

  • Strengthening Community Support: To bring together volunteers, caregivers, and local partners to ensure sustained support and engagement for the elderly community.
